AI hero clips: cinematic shots for your reel without a shoot

Short answer

AI hero clips are short, cinematic video shots generated from a text prompt — an open road at golden hour, steam over a cup, a product turning in studio light. Brandreel generates up to three per reel (5 or 10 seconds, 9:16 or 16:9, about $0.70 each with Kling 2.5 Turbo), puts them where a reel needs atmosphere most, and lets you regenerate or replace any of them.

Stock footage is generic and filming is expensive. AI hero clips sit in between: shots made for your reel, from a sentence, in a couple of minutes. They’re called “hero” clips because they carry the moments that set the mood — the opening hook, the big reveal, the scenes with no product footage.

Where Brandreel puts them

After the draft, Brandreel plans its extras within your budget. Hero clips go first to the opening scene, then to scenes that would otherwise be a plain gradient. Scenes with a presenter, an upload or an existing clip are skipped — your real footage always wins.

What they cost

Details
ModelKling 2.5 Turbo by default; pick another clip model per scene in the editor
Length5 or 10 seconds
Shape9:16 vertical or 16:9 widescreen, matched to the reel
Priceabout $0.70 per clip
Per reelup to 3, as the budget allows

On a $5 budget all three fit, with room kept for changes. On $1, the planner skips clips and suggests raising the budget — it never overspends.

How the prompt is built

Each clip’s prompt comes from the scene’s intent — its image idea, footage search or headline — plus a house style: “Cinematic, smooth camera motion, rich natural light, no text or logos on screen.” Text and logos are left out on purpose: your headline, captions and brand mark are layered on top, crisp and on brand.

Mixing AI clips with real footage

  • Use AI for mood, real footage for proof. Wanderply opened on AI road shots, then showed its actual app screens — see the case study.
  • Keep the product real. Generated products drift in shape and label; upload your own product shots.
  • Regenerate freely. In the editor, describe the shot — subject, motion, mood — choose a length and model, and generate again, or swap in stock footage or an upload.
  • Grade it together. Brandreel tints every background lightly with your brand colour so AI, stock and uploads feel like one film.

Questions

What is an AI hero clip?
A short video shot generated by an AI video model from a text description, used as the background of a scene. In Brandreel, hero clips are cinematic, text-free shots that your headlines and captions sit on top of.
How much does an AI hero clip cost in Brandreel?
About $0.70 per clip. A reel gets up to three, and they’re only generated if your budget covers them after the draft, voice, music and render.
Can I use an AI hero clip on my website?
Hero clips are generated as scene backgrounds inside a reel. For a website hero, make a short 16:9 reel with a single text-free scene and download the MP4.
